About DB Overland
Growing up in North Idaho at the end of a gravel road, with thousands of forested acres and mountains to explore, adventure began as a way of life for me. As I got older, my adventuring went from a Radio Flyer wagon packed with crackers and a fishing pole, to getting my drivers license and my first Toyota truck. Owning a truck is when my adventures started growing longer and farther away from home. I had the feeling of freedom and adventure in my hand as I gripped the steering wheel, windows rolled down, arm out the window, listening to the tires rumble down the road. I was hooked! I wanted to travel the world! See and experience the land and all it has to offer.
Life eventually caught up with me and adventuring slowed down until one day at work I stopped what I was doing, look at where I was and said to myself ” what am I doing?” I made a promise to myself when I was younger that I would try to find a way to adventure full time and make a living doing so. From that day on, I promised myself I would not let myself fall into the rat race and wait until I was old and retired to adventure again and that’s how DB Overland was born.
In 2019 on the weekend of my birthday, I created my YouTube channel and uploaded my first video for the world to see. At first I never thought the channel would grow and I was OK with that. I wanted to share my adventures with my friends and family since they were always asking me to about my travels. Then, I noticed the numbers started going up. What??? Other people like my videos too? This is awesome!! Now I had the answer to the question I have been asking myself for years, “how can I travel and make a living doing so?”
My goal with DB Overland was to provide the best quality adventures as possible along with DIY projects, gear reviews, and ‘How To’ tips for those just getting into overlanding. I also wanted to project the channel around adventuring in older vehicles and gear that everyone can easily acquire because overlanding is about the adventuring not the stuff on the vehicle. Sure… the vehicle needs to have the right kit for where you want to go but throwing a sleeping bag, tent, cooler, and some food to cook, in the back of a vehicle and travel around to all the National Parks is still overlanding because its adventuring!
As life grew on so did my family and adventuring as a family was becoming a challenge. The vehicle was becoming overloaded with all of our necessary gear and I had to figure something out to accommodate everything before the vehicle broke from additional weight. One weekend, visiting a buddy’s place, I noticed red boxes in his junk pile. I walked over and dragged them out of the pile and asked my friend “Hey you doing anything with these?” he replied “Nope! They’re yours.” This is how the DB Overland Trailer was born. Building an overland trailer solved all my problems for my overlanding family. The first model of DB Overland Trailers was built in my 2 car garage, “The Roamer.” From that very first trailer built in my 2 car garage until now, DB Overland pushes to provide quality trailers that last! From weekend adventures to traveling around the world, DB Overland trailers will be there with you every mile traveled.
